The American Guild of Organists
LEXINGTON KENTUCKY CHAPTER

MAY 2, 2007

It is AGO membership renewal season. Between now and June 30 we ask all current
AGO members to renew their membership.

On the opposite side of this letter you will find your Member Renewal Form for 2007-
2008. We have redesigned the form this year to make it easier to complete. If your information hasn’t changed from last year, you may simply write "SAME" across the top
portion. However, please complete the bottom portion indicating the correct membership
status that applies to you, and total the amount due to the Guild. Remember to
sign your name on the line at the bottom of the page indicating that you have read the
Code of Ethics (side column).

You will notice that there is a slight increase in dues this year. This was dictated by our
national headquarters in New York. We have not had an increase in a few years, so this
move seemed inevitable, as the cost of doing business continues to increase.
Also accompanying this Member Renewal Form is a separate sheet entitled "New Member
Form."

We ask that all renewing members make a special effort to recruit one new
member to our Guild. This may be a colleague who belonged in the past, but has drifted
away. This may be the senior pastor of your church or a music associate, the director of
your handbell choir, your staff pianist, and, most certainly, your staff organist.
However, joining the Guild does not mean you have to be an organist or a musician. It
only means that you believe in the Guild’s mission: "to promote the organ in its historic
and evolving roles, to encourage excellence in the performance of organ and choral
music, and to provide a forum for mutual support, inspiration, education, and certification
of Guild members."

I know membership renewals always seem to come early. However, we know how long
it takes for some churches to submit payment requests and seek approval — sometimes
30 days, sometimes longer. In any event, we ask that you submit this form to your
church or synagogue now so that we might know how to budget for our upcoming programs
in the fall. Paying your membership dues now will help us in the long run.

Thank you!
