Paragraph Written Version of Directions
To Good Shepherd from the North: Take the first Lexington exit from I-75 / I-64 (#114, KY 922 or Newtown Pike) and continue south about 2.5 miles till you reach Main Street. Go left on Main and stay in the right lane. Continue through downtown (Main turns into Vine Street), remaining in the right lane. Continue in the right lane through the stoplight at Rose Street. This right lane becomes the turn lane spilling you back onto Main Street. Then get in the left lane, pass the stop light for Forest, and take the next left, which is Bell Court. Good Shepherd is right there on the corner (you CAN'T miss it), and park on the street. Good Shepherd's address is 533 East Main Street, 40508.
To Good Shepherd from the South: Take the first Lexington exit from I-75 (#104, there is a sign for Ashland The Henry Clay Estate before this) and go left. Continue into town on Richmond Road (about 5 miles), and after you've reached a residential area, be on the lookout for Ashland Avenue (stoplight). Proceed through and get in the right lane. Proceed through the next light at Walton, and the church will be on block up on your right. Turn right onto Bell Court and find a spot to tie up your horse.
To DoubleTree Suites from Good Shepherd: Go left onto Main Street and continue about 4 miles, getting in the left lane by the time you reach the New Circle Road overpass. Turn right at the 2nd light after this overpass and the hotel is the pit of the horse shoe shape that makes up that shopping center.
To the Hillary Boone Faculty Club from Good Shepherd: Turn right onto Main Street and then left at the 2nd stop light (first one is Forest, then go left at Woodland). Continue down Woodland through four more lights (Central, then High Street, then Maxwell Street, then Euclid Ave), and at the fifth light go right (Columbia). As you're turning right, the monstrous building before you is the University of Kentucky Library. Continue down Columbia until the next stop light is just in view, and turn left into the parking lot of the Faculty Club.
A few key points about driving around in Lexington: Streets change names at certain parts of town. For instance, Main Street, where good Shepherd is, is called Richmond Road as it extends to the southeast, and on the other side of downtown is called Leestown Road. Broadway is the same as Harrodsburg to the south and Paris Pike to the north. Euclid is even more schitzophrenic. Euclid in the middle of town, Avenue of Champions and Fontaine on either side. Might even have a nother name somewhere, can't remember. Point being, if you're gonna do some serious driving around town, just pick up a map and pray for the best. Also, our stoplights are not timed correctly, making this town seem like it has the longest stoplights in the western world for some, and a freeway for others. As a full time cyclist, I think motorists here treat turn signals as an option rather than a mandate. Apart from that, we're just like the rest of the world. Good luck!
